Commentary
It’s been a long time coming, but Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have lived up to their reputation as two of the best football clubs in the world. Both of these teams have been confirmed as winners, and the order of first and second place has been decided. The only thing that remains to be seen heading into the final day of the competition is whether Leipzig or Club Brugge will go through to the Europa League.

Commentary
Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Milan are the biggest clubs in Europe, and in a deadly Group B, Liverpool are the favourites by far. The biggest story of the final week of the season will be the battle for a place in the knockout rounds. One step ahead of them is second-placed Porto. Milan, in fourth place, will also be eliminated with a win over Liverpool, depending on the outcome of the other game.
Group C: Dortmund will be eliminated from the competition.

Commentary
It’s been a bumpy ride for Dortmund, who were thought to have the best chance of reaching the knockout rounds. If Sporting lose in the last 16 and Dortmund win, they will be level on points, but Dortmund can’t get the better of Sporting because of the way the teams play and the goals scored, so Dortmund will have to go to the Europa League.

Commentary
Bayern and Barcelona were considered to be the two best sides in Group E, but so far, it’s been a tale of two halves. The Bavarians have won five of their last five games and are firmly on top of the group, while Barcelona have struggled with two wins, one draw and two losses. Barcelona, on the other hand, are struggling with a 2-1-2 record, and although they are second in the group, they will have to wait until the last game of the season to get through. Their opponents for the final game of the season are top of the table Bayern. If Benfica win, Barcelona will be eliminated from the group with a draw or less.
Group F: Manchester United, who are struggling domestically, will make it through.

Commentary
After struggling in the Premier League and finally sacking their manager, Manchester United are still going strong in the Champions League, sitting top of the table with 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. A draw or better in the last 16 would see them go through. Despite the Young Boys’ elimination, Villarreal and Atalanta are still in with a chance of making it through, so it’s a group we’ll be keeping an eye on until the end of the campaign.

Commentary
With no so-called big clubs in Group G, and only three points separating the top and bottom of the table, it’s a shambles for all the teams still in with a chance of getting through. Lille are currently top of the table, but a defeat in the last game of the season and a win for Sevilla would see them drop to third place. If Sevilla win, they will drop to third place and will be eliminated from the group stage. With every team still in with a chance of making it through, Group G will be one to watch right up until the final whistle.

Commentary
Two strong clubs in Chelsea and Juventus and two smaller clubs in Zenit and Malmo. When the groupings were first announced, it was thought that there would be two strong sides and two weak sides in Group H, and that’s exactly what we got. Chelsea and Juventus only lost to each other, but won all four of their matches. Both Chelsea and Juventus have won all four of their remaining matches to secure their passage through the group stage before the final day of the competition. The main question for the final day of the competition is which team will finish top of the table? If both teams win, then Chelsea will go through on goal difference. Zenit and Malmö have no chance of making it through, but for the sake of their club pride, they need to win.
